Ministry Description
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing pastoral care to the church alongside the senior pastor.
- Preaching on Sunday mornings when requested by the senior pastor.
- Overseeing ministries for children and teens.
- Teaching regularly on Wednesday evenings.
- Developing and executing a discipleship plan for children, youth, and their families.
- Planning and assisting in the execution of special events for children, youth, and their families.
- Providing Biblical counsel.
- Participating in the church’s mission vision to reach Northwest Arkansas, North America, and the world.

HIWASSE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH Open position for Youth Pastor/Director Description: The part-time Youth Pastor/Director is tasked with responsibilities in the areas of Youth Ministry, Youth Education, and Administration. He will report to the Senior Pastor and will work closely with Senior Pastor and other duties. YOUTH MINISTRY - Provide general oversight for our plan of ministry among middle school and high school students, including the purposes of evangelism, discipleship, missions, and fellowship. Lead the youth group, teach the lessons, build relationships with our youth, and fulfill the responsibilities of a Youth Minister. Work together with Youth Committee Member and Youth Bible Teachers to organize and implement a program of activities helping our youth grow closer to Jesus and one another. Develop relationships with community and education leaders. Seek to expand the influence of our youth ministry beyond the church walls. Promote outreach to youth parents. YOUTH EDUCATION - Coordinate our Youth Sunday School and Discipleship ministries, giving attention to matters of staffing, training, curriculum development, and the starting of new classes for those in grade ninth through grade twelve while working with our ignite group sixth through eighth. Pay special attention to the unique rules established for the safety and security of our children while on our campus and at all church events and activities. Assist in the training and screening of volunteers and in the enforcing of these rules designed to protect our children and create a safe place for spiritual growth and fellowship. Assist the Senior Pastor in the selection of resources in alignment with our statement of faith. Occasionally fill the pulpit in the Pastor's absence. ADMINISTRATION - Supervise the work of our Financial Ministry Assistant and Head Custodian. Work with the Senior Pastor and other staff members to fulfill the routine operations of the church. Work alongside church officers and committees to assist them in carrying out their various assignments. Assist in the day-to-day operations of our facilities, our benevolence ministry, and other routine functions of the church so things run smoothly on our campus. OTHER DUTIES - Attend staff meetings, make hospital visits as needed, teach and lead devotionals occasionally, and support all church programs, activities and events. GARFIELD FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH Open position for Pastor of Youth Ministry. This is a full-time position. Functional Area Youth (7th-12th Grade), Ministry Staff Reports to Senior Pastor, in coordination with Personnel Committee Salary adjusted based on qualifications. OVERALL POSITION OBJECTIVE Work with Senior Pastor to provide a safe, Christ-centered environment in which students (seventh grade through high school) are equipped to know and to make known Jesus Christ. GENERAL/REGULAR RESPONSIBILITIES Directs the Student Ministry 1. Plan and coordinate Wednesday night Bible study and activities for students. 2. In cooperation with Discipleship Ministries, direct student Sunday School teachers and curriculum/programming. 3. Plan and coordinate all student ministry events and trips. 4. Plan and coordinate student ministry needs. 5. In cooperation with budget and finance, coordinate budgeting, music, and events for youth ministries. 6. This person would have an unswerving personal belief in the Triune nature of God, inerrancy of the Bible, existence of a literal heaven and hell, and the need for all to trust in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin. 2. This person should have a sense of God's divine calling to local church ministry, with (ideally) this calling having been affirmed by the Church through testimony and/or ordination. He would understand that ministry is a calling, not simply a job. 3. In the grace of God, this person would be an individual who authentically hungers to know God and to make Him known. He would be a self-starter who is humble, teachable, and a team-player. 4. He would possess a genuine love for students and their parents that motivates caring, compassion, patience, and attentiveness. 5. Administrative ability to organize, plan, and execute both short and long-term events. DESIRED COMPETENCIES 1. Administrative ability to assess needs, work with others to formulate a response, and execute that plan. 2. Skill to plan a meeting agenda and lead others through it. 3. Comfort speaking to groups of various sizes. 4. Basic knowledge of office computer software (Microsoft or comparable) to perform tasks such as word processing and email. 5. Administrative ability to organize, plan, and execute both short and long-term events. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE Education: pursuit or completion of a college degree; ministry degree preferred. Experience: teaching/communicating Biblical truths; planning a wide range of activities/events for students/families; serving on a local church staff; coordinating ministry with/to lay leadership.
